Improved Hammers. Our shredder product engineers have studied hammer wear patterns, and developed optimum Hammer designs. Combined with Columbia’s superior alloy selection, they offer high integrity and excellent wear life.

Xtend High Carbide Overlays. In the Columbia Xtend process we apply an extremely hard, high carbide layer to the working surfaces of shredder hammers. Resistance to abrasion is remarkable, while the hammer base metal can be a tough, high strength steel to virtually eliminate breakage. Users report wear life increases of 30% to 50%. Equally important, cutting surfaces remain sharp throughout much of the hammer life, for high shredder efficiency.
